Shop `Till You Drop

It’s that time of the year.  A time to shop in person and online.  And shop you must.

Recently I went to a few of my favorite stores in Los Angeles.  I always want the shopping experience to be an inspiring, beautiful, comfortable pleasure (my star sign is Taurus, so go figure).  The goal for holiday shopping is to keep the focus local and as small as possible.  It feels good and connected to shop this way.  Get to know your retail neighbors and support them!

Here are snaps and holiday suggestions from my shopping journey:

Brentwood Country Mart:

Calypso - for apparel and homewares.  Calypso is a a store with many locations, but it still feels small and highly curated.  Go for color!  Brighten someone's world. CalypsoStBarth.com

Farm Shop - Food, wine and take away treats to keep up one’s energy while shopping.  Cookies and coffee are musts….right?! FarmShopCA.com

Sugar Paper - Sublime gifties that are gorgeous and practical.  Cards, appointment books, notebooks, fancy key chains.  Always surprising.  Always cool. SugarPaper.com

Reddi ChickThe Infamous Reddi Chick has been at the Brentwood Country Mart forever (since 1948). Authentic. Legit.  Even if you are a vegetarian (as am I), this establishment deserves respect. Visit Reddi Chick here.

Jenni Kayne Elegant and understated. I especially like the home items: soap, vases, plates. JenniKayne.com

Serve sage for a clean and clear new year (not sure why it is on a dinner plate)?  Is sage as a meal the new detox?

Diesel, a Book Store : Perhaps one of the last book stores in Los Angeles. Love the staff recommendations. DieselBookStore.com

One might catch Cindy Crawford and Brian Grazer signing their (respective) books.

Cindy and me.  Hanging out.

Say the Sun.  Ultra chic flip flops by Jeannine Braden.

A gnome flippin’ the bird.  Who doesn’t need this?

Plenty of lux beauty products.

Fabulous throws.

Bow ties, socks and hats rock for guys here.  As well as the iconic photograph of Mick Jagger.

Compartés - Creative, delicious and beautifully packaged chocolate.  I love that this brand that started in 1950 is has had a modern update.  So well done.  I bought a stash for hostess gifts, holiday presents and a number larger than I care to disclose for personal enjoyment. Compartes.com

Read the story about the brilliant Jonathan Grahm who is the creative wizard behind the Compartés revolution here.

Compartés teamed with Kelly Wearstler for terrifically enticing and exciting packaging.
